Childcare Staff

Vicki Greger is the Owner and Director of Spokane Child Development Center. She has worked in Early Childhood for over 20 years. Vicki has her BAE in Elementary Education and has taken numerous trainings in the area of child development.

She is extremely active and influential in the early-childhood community and has worked hard to make sure that Spokane Child Development Center is a high quality childcare. Vicki is passionate about early learning and continually advocates for all children to get the best possible start.

Vicki has led Spokane Child Development Center to a 4 Star rating with Early Achievers each time our center has been rated. She supports the professional development of staff members and encourages continual learning. Crochet is her super power.

Angel Smith

Angel Smith is the Pathfinders Preschool Program teacher. She has been at Spokane Child Development Center for 10 years. She has completed the preschool CDA (Child Development Associate) program and has years of experience teaching children. She is currently working on her AA degree in Early Childhood Education at SFCC.

Her favorite thing about the Pathfinders room is helping children develop the skills they need to prepare them for life. Angel actively works with her Pathfinders team to build resilient children through the Conscious Discipline.  Angel has 3 children, ages 22, 12 and 5 and enjoys swimming and camping with them. Landscaping and yard work is her super power.

Sammi McPhedran is the Challengers Program teacher. She has completed the Infant/Toddler CDA (Child Development Associate) program and has been working at SCDC for almost 13 years. Sammi appreciates working in the Challengers room and loves planning activities that best help children explore their world. She has worked with all ages of children in childcare and is a passionate preschool teacher.

Sammi has a gift of connecting with young children through communication and creating. Sammi has a 12 year old son, a 7 year old daughter and a new baby due in September. Volunteering for her kids’ sports teams and scouting are her super powers.

Yvette Kramer works in the Explorer Toddler classroom. She has completed the Infant/Toddler CDA (Child Development Associate) program and is near graduation with an AA in Early Childhood Education and Development. She has worked in the Explorer classroom at SCDC for 20 years and has 23 years of childcare experience.

Yvette enjoys all ages of children and especially loves watching toddlers learn, explore and grow from their experiences. The work of Early Childhood chose Yvette when she began caring for her niece and began to realize how much she loves children. She enjoys being with her family and has 2 step-children and two grand children. Gardening is Yvette’s super power.

Lauren SallanderLauren Sallander is our Eagles Preschool classroom teacher. She has a B.A. in Early Childhood Education from WSU. She has worked in childcare for 6 years, as an assistant teacher, a CLASS observer/coach and two years as an ECEAP lead teacher. She is married to a Naval Officer who works as a recruiter in Spokane.

Lauren has always had a passion for Early Childhood. Social and emotional developmental growth occurs between the ages of 2 and 5 and Lauren has had a desire to be a part of that development. She loves forming relationships and connections with preschoolers, watching them try new things and become successful. Lauren enjoys children so much that she volunteers to work in her church nursery. Connecting with children is her super power.

Nadia GuthrieNadia Guthrie is our young toddler teacher in the Voyager Young Toddlers Classroom. She has completed the preschool CDA program and worked in both toddler and preschool classrooms. She will begin her AA degree in Child Development this spring.

Nadia’s favorite thing about working with toddlers is their exuberance. Her mantra: “If you’re happy, they’re happy!” Children and parents love her genuine warmth and concern. She has three daughters, ages 6, 5 and 2. Her super power? making coffee.

Amy EllisIn Memoriam

Amy Ellis was a teacher, mentor, coach and assistant director at Spokane Child Development Center over the past 21 years. She passed away unexpectedly in October 2017.

Her kindness, ability to connect with children and to build with relationships with parents continues to be missed.

Our new outside playground is dedicated to her memory.
